October 13, 2018: Indiana chapter fall field day, Parmenter property, Greene County.
April 14, 2018: Indiana chapter Spring field day, Diehl property near Warsaw, IN. The Diehl property has 27 acres of hardwoods planted in 1990 and separated by rows of white pines. The plot is nearing completion of its second thinning. In 1992 another pure 17 acre stand of mixed hardwoods was planted, and we will look at which plot is growing better. There is also a mature stand of trees that has been under active management since 1963, with two harvests during that time. See the Spring 2018 newsletter for the agenda and registration info.
October 7, 2017: Indiana & Illinois chapters fall field day, north of Danville, Illinois. Tour three woodlands: a 22 acre walnut plantation from 1989, 20 acres of native trees intensively managed with many native walnuts, 25 acres of native trees marked for a timber sale. Further details available soon.
